She is propelled by her unwavering dedication to music, visual art, and collaboration, and believes deeply in the potency of these tools as catalysts for personal growth, self-understanding, and relationship building for people of all ages. A native of San Francisco, she graduated from New York University with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in 2008, and in 2010 relocated to New Orleans, the city that has been nurturing her creative growth ever since. In 2021, she earned a Master of Jazz Studies from University of New Orleans. She is currently active as a vocalist, bandleader, and arranger, performing both under her own name and with the Unmentionables, a band she founded in 2020 that plays what she likes to call “New Orleans Getdown Music for the People.” In 2022 she released her first full length album called Open the Door and she is currently at work on her next album, a duo record with her longtime guitar player Ed Barrett, anticipating release in spring/summer 2024. Anna is a sensitive and powerful interpreter, tapping into many moods with her music and bringing personal connection to the songs that she weaves into her sets. Her recorded work thus far comprises her own arrangements of songs by some of the composers and songwriters that she admires most: Duke Ellington; Dr. John; Cole Porter; Joni Mitchell; Betty Carter; Abbey Lincoln; and Björk, to name a few. She has recently started peeking down the rabbit hole toward writing her own music. |
