It's with a heavy heart that I discovered that the great pianist/accordionist Rob Reich has passed away at the age of 47. An extremely gifted composer and also human being, Rob was also a multi-instrumentalist and wrote beautiful compositions that had interesting harmonies with drawn out thematic sections that featured instrumentalists and often had a playful vibe. I am thankful to have had the opportunity to perform with Rob in a variety of setting including his Swings Left project, Guacho, Rob's trio, and also for a new Years Eve Celebration at the SF Speakeasy for an epic party on New Years Eve of 2019 (right before the global pandemic). This mural shown below was featured on top of the old bar Amnesia for many years until it became extremely faded by the sun and this is where Rob performed regularly until it closed down in early March of 2020. Glad to have known Rob to have experienced a small piece of his creative magic which lifted everyone around him to be better musicians, artists, performers and people . Condolences all of his family and friends. Rob, You will be greatly missed and I'm sorry you left us at only 47. I learned so much from playing and just being around you. Thank you Rob! ![]()
